Oakdale High School gets new youth football feeder program.

LOUYAA has announced the formation of the Oakdale Bears Youth Football Program under the LOUYAA umbrella.  This will round out the LOUYAA football offering to include 3 true football feeder programs for each of the are high schools in the LOUYAA region.  Urbana, Linganore and Oakdale high schools will now all benefit from direct community based youth football programs designed to help players become familiar with and use the offensive and defensive strategies their high schools utilize.  This close tie to the high school program helps young football players get to their best chance of success when they reach high school levels of play.  It makes perfect sense if you think about it.  By the time these players reach the 9th grade many of them have been using the same numbering system, plays, formations, blocking schemes, defensive schemes, blitzes, coverage assignments and drills taught by the local high school coaches.  It makes a very smooth transition possible and allows the HS coaches to move at a much faster pace and get to more advanced levels of coaching quickly since the foundation is already set in place.  It’s no wonder Linganore and Urbana have enjoyed so much success at the High School levels of play over the years.  I would highly recommend making sure your young athlete plays in the local High School feeder program and not a place where they are learning football that will have to be completely re-taught when they get to high school.  There is no way a youth team feeding into 4 or 5 high schools can effectively teach what youth players need for their best chance of success at high school.  Stick to your community youth football that is the local high school feeder where all the players can look forward to working together and staying together for many years.  This kind of chemistry and team camaraderie is invaluable in later years.  Look for programs who have teams at every age level so kids don’t get discouraged having to play with older and more experienced ones.  It’s no fun sitting the bench while you try to learn a sport.  Make sure your program offers guaranteed play time and multiple skill levels to participate.

About Indoor Football:

Indoor football in Maryland is heading into its 5th season in 2010, featuring competition from over 120 teams across the state. Marylandyouthfootball.com has taken over the indoor league in order to maximize state competition and visibility. By doing so, this enables MDYF to create a uniform format from which teams will be invited to compete in a state championship at the end of the indoor season!
Indoor football was developed to give children the opportunity to play tackle football with their peers regardless of weight in a fun and safe environment.  Our goal is to provide a place for children who only like to play football and a place for children who wanted to play a spring sport as well as football. The practice and game schedules are less intense then the fall season.  Please keep in mind that the league has doubled every year and there are constant improvements. Operationally we are learning as we go so some patience and flexibility is needed.
Each team that participates in the Marylandyouthfootball.com indoor football league will be guaranteed 8 games, there will be 8 players per team on the field during game play, and games will run April 1st through June. All indoor games are one hour, with a running clock so don’t there is no need to worry about game delays. Indoor football is a high intensity hard hitting fast game so be ready for some great highlights. Why did the Indoor program Start?

What is the difference between the Indoor season and the Fall/Outdoor Season?
Indoor is less intense in terms of team size, number of practices, volunteers required etc. than outdoor. This is supposed to be relaxed and fun. The emphasis is on playing and learning the fundamentals of tackle football.
You can be assured that your child’s safety and enjoyment are always our top priorities. The majority of coaches are fall season coaches.
